Golden Retriever Characteristics

golden retriever characteristicsMost breeds of dogs prefer other species of their group in order to feel secure.  They are very group-oriented

However, when looking at Golden Retrievers, they have been bred to be geared more towards people.  They make great working dogs and you can often find them as guide dogs, they also make great friends for children.  Due to this breeding they need to interact with people on a regular basis.

The Golden Retrievers main aim is simply to please you, they will tolerate many mistakes from you as long as you acknowledge their presence and give them a pat on the head.

Golden Retrievers as we have seen are very people oriented, and it is therefore very important for them to live with their owners and they will want to be included in all family activites.

It is important to keep your Golden Retriever busy as they tend to start barking a lot if they become bored.

A fully grown Golden Retriever will enjoy lots of things such as hiking, walking, jogging and any other physical activity.

Your Golden Retriever should be exposed to kids when it is still a puppy, and in this way he will be better around them.  Even though Golden Retrievers are great with kids, you should make sure to never leave them alone together.  You must remember that they are still big animals and may knock them over by accident.  And you must also remember that a child can provoke a dog with out realising it, by perhaps pulling his tail, causing him to retaliatevia natural instinct.

Golden Retriever Characteristics also include a natural love for water!  If you have a pond or pool nearby you can count on them jumping in.  They also tend to be drawn to mud, so expect a dirty Golden Retriever on a regular basis!  Once your Golden is full grown, you can count on bathing him every couple of days.

When summer arrives please make sure that your Golden Retriever has plenty of shade, air and water.

Remember take good care of your Golden Retriever and he will give you many years of companionship.

These are some of the most common Golden Retriever Characteristics.  Remember if you decide to become a Golden Retriever owner one of the most important things will be to spend time together and show how much you love him.
